Crochet Top

Crochet Top Golden Dewdrop: Free Pattern

September 2020 is just over, which means we have another three months to go to begin with a new year chapter of 2021! In fact, I feel that year 2020 is a weird year. We all knew how people around the globe go through their lives in a new norm.

As October is just begun, I want to share my love in creating another crochet project. I named it as Golden Dewdrop Top. Wearing this crochet top has been so much fun to me because it is very diverse and simple. Also it is an easy pattern to make. It is created from the neck down so you can easily customize it to fit your desired length. The top is worked up in double crochet, single crochet and slip stitch.

DESIGN INSPIRATION

Whether purple is your favorite color or not, but it is nothing wrong to spruce up your wardrobe with a color symbolic of luxury, royalty and elegance. I chose Golden Dewdrop to name this crochet top as to admire this beautiful flower. Golden dewdrops are not golden at all. In fact, they produce flowers in beautiful shades of purple which can be grown and cultivated in zones warmer, so I guess it is no problem in our country, Malaysia. The flower will blossom into large, sprawling shrubs if you plant them in full sun. They have a mild vanilla fragrance that can attract butterflies, birds and bees. Can you imagine how lovely they are 🙂 . I am not that really into garden person, but I wanted to plant this flower in my backyard.

YARN

For this crochet design, I used Alize Cotton Gold Plus yarn in the color of purple. It is blended with 55% cotton and 45% acrylic. While the light green color is another type of yarn blended with 20% milk and 80% cotton. These two types of yarns are soft, cooling and tightly wound together. They also perfect for any season and have many color selection too!

Repeat this process until ROUND 18(20, 22 , 22, 24, 24, 26).

Total number of the yoke sts: <158(182, 206 , 206, 230, 230, 254>

*You can customize your garment according to your body measurement. The number of rounds that written here is considerable for adjustment to fit your size.

After YOKE INCREASE, put st markers as shown in the picture.

Or you can try on your garment first. The stitch markers should stretch to touch underneath your underarms and fit over your bust. If the top is too tight, you may ADD more rows of YOKE INCREASE. Once you’re satisfied with the fit, then you can continue onto BODY instructions.

BODY

ROUND 1: Ch 3, DC in each st until the 1st st marker, DC into the st with the 1st st marker, DC into the st with the 2nd st marker (You have created your first armhole), DC in each stitch until the 3rd st marker, DC into the st with the 3rd st marker, DC into the st with the 4th st marker (You have created your 2nd armhole), DC in each st until the end of the round, sl st to join.

ROUND 2: Ch 3, DC in each st until end of the round, sl st to join.

Repeat ROUND 2 until reach your desired length for making the flower lining (in green color). Do not fasten off your yarn, instead change the yarn color and turn your garment by facing the WRONG SIDE.

To make the flower lining, here we don’t have to start with Ch 3, instead direct to yarn over and insert the hook to make DC, then sl into the next st, *DC next st, sl next st. Rep from * until the end, sl st to join, fasten off the yarn. Then turn your garment again by facing to the RIGHT SIDE (RS) as in the picture. You can see how is your flower lining looks like as in the picture.

After the flower lining, Ch 3, DC in each st until end of the round, sl st to join. Repeat the process one more ROUND then start again the process of making the flower lining.

*You can add rounds and flower lining many times as you like until reach your desired length.

Once you are satisfied with the length, fasten off.
